We are so excited for the holidays and with all our holiday decor, I made sure to pit stop in our guest bedroom to make sure it was ready for our holiday guests! Our holidays always involve out-of-town visitors because we don’t have any family nearby, so making sure our guests feel just at home is so important to us. (We really want them to come back!) Over the years, I’ve discovered a few special important details to include and provide for our guests and hope by sharing them, it will help you feel just as ready for yours! The joy of hosting others is about getting to spend as much time together, so don’t let the preparations of it all stress you out! These simple tips and tricks with allow you to be ready to make your guests feel right at home.
WELCOME YOUR GUESTS WITH A LITTLE BIT OF THE SEASON
A wreath on the door, holiday bells, your favorite holiday candle, just a few sweet and simple things that will help your guests get in the spirit.
MAKE THE BED BEAUTIFULLY!
A beautifully inviting bed will make your guests feel welcome and pampered. Time to pull out your favorite sheets and comforters, and create a bed your guests will be excited to fall into at the end of each day.
Also provide layers, some lighter weight and heavier weight blankets, so your guests feel like they have options.
FIND A SPACE FOR A SUITCASE
Whether it is a bench, small table, large basket, fold out rack- something with enough room to provide a spot for your visitor’s luggage. Also, clearing out a drawer and allowing your guest to unpack and settle in would be a nice touch.
PROVIDE YOUR WIFI PASSWORD & AN ALEXA
Even though your guest will most likely be so thoroughly entertained, most folks love staying connected, so providing your wifi password just helps them feel they can do so easily. We also love our Alexas, and have multiples throughout our home. Providing one in the room allows your guest to check the weather, hear home announcements, choose their music, and a ton of other wonderful perks. Our guests love exploring all the neat things it can do!
PROVIDE YOUR GUESTS A CEILING FAN REMOTE
If you are like me, I love it as cold as it can be in the room when I sleep and then snuggling under warm blankets. But, with our young kiddos, we aren’t able to keep the house’s temperature that cold. So, thats why I love our ceiling fans, and being able to control the temperature is such a treat. Plus, I love the feeling of moving air. Emerson Fans have a ton of stylish and beautiful fans that would be perfect for any guest room space. If you are looking for a new fan check out their 4th Avenue LED or the Veloce which are a couple of my favorites!
PUT OUT FRESH LINENS
Setting out the linens for your guests is such a great practice because they will never wonder what linens are for them. Especially after traveling, it is just nice to be able to use what they need right away. Also, check that you have basic toiletries on hand, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and even show them where the extra bathroom tissue is! In our house of four girls, that seems disappear!
A FEW EXTRA KIND THINGS
Put a carafe of water and cup by the bed, especially in a strange home where they’d be less comfortable getting up in the middle of the night, they would be thankful to already have!
A lamp by the bed, so your guests don’t have to navigate their way from the wall’s light switch to the bed.
Make sure there are easily accessible outlets. Everyone has plenty of gadgets to plug in!
Fresh flowers are my favorite, and I love setting out a cut arrangement or even a potted plant. Its just brings life to a space!
So thankful to be able to give you a quick glimpse into our guest bedroom space, and share my love for home comfort and hospitality! Whether it’s the grandparents, who come often enough and know the routine, to our first time guests, these sweet tips and tricks have helped me feel prepared and ready to love on our visitors. It is really important to me that my guests feel right at home, and then hopefully that much more excited to come visit as often as possible!
